Star Wars - No Hope
Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at 11:44AM It looks like we'll have a new Star Wars animated sitcom coming.
Because that's exactly what this franchise has been missing.
Not that I don't love Robot Chicken; thier Star Wars specials were hilarious. Same with Family Guy's. They were great lampoons of the orginial trilogy (which sadly can't be done to the new trilogy as they lampoon themselves). But we finally are at the point that any hope for a serious Star Wars on the big or small screen is futile. It's all comedies and kid shows now. The only thing that came close in recent years was the Genndy Tartakovsky Clone Wars series. A handful of 5 minute cartoons. It's greatness made most apparent by Lucas's attempts to erase it from history.
From the article:
"What do these characters do when they're not overthrowing empires?"
You know what? I'm not tired of that. You know why? Because I haven't actually seen that happen at any point in the past 30 years.
I can't wait for 10 years from now, when Lucas has been dead for 9 years, and someone sane is in charge of this franchise.
Am I the only person who wants a serious Star War's story on TV or in the theater?
