G is for Green Lantern

Yeah, Nathon Fillion would be perfect as The Green Lantern.
Too bad he’s not.
Looks like actor(?) Ryan Reynolds, no relation to Burt, was tapped instead to star in the big screen adaptation of DC Comics kinda-sorta well known superhero The Green Lantern!
Huzzah.
For those that aren't familiar:
Shouldn't we be green? Blue desn't make sense. The Green Lantern is the story of the fearless professional test pilot, Hal Jordon. When the current protector of space sector 2814, home to the infamous Alderane System and Ysmault – Oh yeah, and Earth - is killed, Hal is given a The Green Lantern ring and taken against his will, to join the interstellar police force known as The Green Lantern Corps. Which sends him on a journey to a planet at the center of the universe called OA. Where the blue creators of the green rings, The Guardians of the Galaxy, set him on the path to learn how to use his new found powers, the ability to will any construct he can imagine to life. And overcome the fatal flaw of the ring, it’s ineffectiveness against anything yellow.
You see, inside the main power battery on OA, where all of the Lanterns power originates from, the Guardians of the Galaxy trapped the yellow energy being known as Parallax, the embodiment of fear in the galaxy. Thus the green lanterns ring is ineffective…OH GOD THIS EXPLANATION IS EVEN BORING ME!
If you got like halfway through reading that, I salute you. It's a terrible thing to read.
The thing is, like most comic book characters the Green Lantern has lengthy career. The current incarnation dating back 50+ years. With 12 comics printed a year in his own title. Not to mention appearances in countless team ups with Green Arrow and Justice League there's literally thousands of stories about him, written by hundreds of writers. Not all of which makes sense all the time.
It's like trying to explain a soap opera. After so many years, the story gets...complicated.
All you really need to know is this:
The story of The Green Lantern called Hal Jordon is a story of a guy trying to overcome his self centered lifestyle, taking a stand for something bigger than himself and learning the difference between fearless and brave.
If that sounds interesting to you and think you may want to see a movie about that sort of thing, it doesn't really matter. They're probably going to fuck it up.
