Mid(ish) Movie Season review!

With us being through a good chunk of the movies on my sidebar, and news of what's coming still, I figured this would be a good time to give a quick recap and update. Empty the board and reload it for the rest of the year.

Blindness

The only one on my list I haven't seen. Probably because it isn't out yet. Not much has changed since the first preview I saw, I'm still looking forward to it.

Get Smart

A great adaptation of the classic TV series. I liked the different take on Maxwell Smart they went with. I thought it was very funny. The entire cast did a great job with special mentions to Anne Hathaway and Alan Arkin who were exceptional. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie.

Hellboy 2

Not much too it, just a funny, solid, action movie. A visual masterpiece but with a muddy plot. Pretty much what I expected.

Indiana Jones 4

Not what I was hoping for at all from the superstar team of writers, director and actors. Very disappointing.

Iron Man

One of the best comic book adaptations recently brought to the big screen. Robert Downey Jr makes this movie brilliant.

Kung Fu Panda

My favorite animated movie this year. The story is cliched but the visuals, the characters and the action is so good that you hardly notice. A good movie for everyone to enjoy.

Redbelt

Understated but impressive. A compelling modern day samurai movie. Honor, betrayal, death. No one part stands out as much as the whole. I loved it.

The Chronicles of Narnia 2

A bit of a disappointment compared to the original. Too much of the story and characters abandoned in the name of the message. Comes off a bit snobbish.

WALL-E

The characters are touching, the story is fun, and the visuals are beautiful. A bit hamfisted in the message it delivers but it doesn't ruin the movie. Good fun :)

Wanted

Fast, fun, often over the top action movie. 108 minutes of stylized adrenaline. Awesome.

And the new list, in no particular order:

Blindness - Still looks like an intriguing story with an amazing cast
Tropic Thunder - Slowly been winning me over.
Burn After Reading - Just looks hilarious
Max Payne - "He was trying to buy sand for his hourglass..." *Click* "...but I wasn't selling any." Good ole pulp fun.
Zack and Miri Make a Porno - Its the new Kevin Smith movie. Of course i want to see it.
Quantum of Solace - Loved Casino Royal. The preview looks amazing. Dumb name.
Harry Potter 6 - None of the HP movies have disappointed so far and the trailer leads me to believe the same for this one
The Spirit - Sin City 2? The comic was fun and this looks right in line to be the same.
Madagascar 2 - I almost died laughing at the preview the first time i saw it.
Igor - What can I say? I love animated movies.

I think my initial list turned out fairly well (for me at least). I ended up liking most of the movies on it. Hopefully this list won't disappoint as well.
