Wanted

If the Academy Awards were decided based on the best looking, well dressed characters firing the most bullets through each others' heads in slow motion, this movie would have the Best Picture category locked up through the next century. While I feel that would be a fine stick to measure by, unfortunately the myopic neanderthals at the Academy don't have the artistic vision that I and the filmmakers of Wanted share.

Wanted is a movie that doesn't pretend to be anything other than what it is and I love it for it. It's an unapologetic patchwork of fast paced action, witty dialogue and well dressed actors with just enough threads of plot to sew it all together into a three piece suit of badassery. And with James McAvoy, Morgan Freeman and Angelina Jolie bringing their considerable acting talent to bare on this movie just makes it all the better.

I'm not going to get into the nitty-gritty of the movie but I did want to mention one scene in particular. In the movie there is an running gunfight, where the main character Wesley, played by McAvoy, breaches what is essentially a castle filled with assassins that is planned out and executed so beautifully that it can only be described as a work of art. The sequence raises the bar for all action movies, topping anything The Matrix (and maybe Equilibrium) have brought to the table in recent years.

While I have no problem labeling this movie as the work of art that it is, I would be amiss if I did not add that like all art, its not going to resonate with everyone. If you want to see a movie where an everyday person/Mossad agent/Chihuahua learns to accept/change everyday problems finding love/happiness/the meaning of life along the way than this probably isn't the movie for you. However, if you want to just have a good time seeing a fun movie where everyone solves their problems the way God* intended, with copious amounts of bullets, than this is a must see for you. And as a bonus you'll get to see a movie where Morgan Freeman calls someone a 'motherfucker' (suck on that Bucket List) which is worth the ticket price alone.

I want more mentions of naked Angeline Jolie in this review, please.
